Part-time Shop Clerk
The Wave Hill Shop is seeking a friendly customer service-oriented individual to handle day to day sales and operations of the shop at Wave Hill. The Shop reflects the organization’s nature-related mission, offering gardening items, nature books and guides, educational children’s items, logo merchandise and a variety of fine gifts.
Primary Duties include:
- Engaging customers on the sales floor and over the telephone, and practicing excellent customer service at all times.
- Creating dialogue with visitors and suggests items for purchase
- Accurate register operation and cash handling
- Receiving, unpacking and pricing of stock merchandise
- Maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards of the shop including outdoor garden sales area
- Plant watering and maintenance
- Stockroom organization and inventory management
- The ability to work as part of a team and also take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Multi taskers are welcome, being attentive to customers yet remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
Qualifications
- Must be energetic, enthusiastic, friendly and customer service-oriented
- Retail sales and cash handling experience required
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent communicator
- Ability to learn about merchandise as it relates to customers’ needs
- This position involves constant moving, talking, smiling, listening, reaching, grabbing and being on your feet for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders, and you must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Flexible schedule includes weekends and holidays, 2-3 days per week.
Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour.
