Party in the Garden: Alea

Colombian-born singer, composer, and musician Alea creates a sound that celebrates Latin America while creating new definitions of what “Latin Alternative” can be. After a rousing concert in Armor Hall in March 2023 that got the audience on their feet and swaying their hips, Alea brings her live performance outdoors to Wave Hill’s Great Lawn in honor of the garden’s 60th anniversary. Her music combines her rich and diverse afro-indigenous background and her experience with wide-ranging musical landscapes, embracing cumbia, vallenato, rancheras, pop, and jazz. Alea's latest album, 2021’s Alborotá, was shortlisted as among the Best Latin Music of the year by both Rolling Stone and NPR. The singer-songwriter will move you with messages of the spirit, buttery vocals, deep-rooted grooves, and uplifting guitar.
Registration not required for this drop-in event. In the case of inclement weather, this event will move to Armor Hall in Wave Hill House. Capacity there is limited and guests will be accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Lower Lawn is accessible by a paved path that has a moderately steep slope, which is not ADA-compliant. Accessible bathrooms are available a few hundred feet from the Lower Lawn, as well as at the Perkins Visitor Center, located at the top of the slope. In the event of rain, the performance moves to Wave Hill House, which is fully accessible to all our visitors. The building is located along a paved route with moderate changes in grade.
