Drop by Armor Hall and try your hand at creating rolled beeswax candles with Instructor Olivia Kalin to to take home and enjoy. Materials fee collected upon entry to workshop; each kit includes enough supplies to make several candles. Appropriate for adults and children 5 and up with an adult companion. Space is limited—you may be asked to wait if all workspaces are full. Bees, Butterflies and Blooms Weekend event.

This weekend is a premium-admission weekend, with a $2 surcharge per visitor; there is no admission charge for children under six.

Wave Hill House is located along a paved route with moderate changes in grade. The ground floor and lower level of Wave Hill House are wheelchair-accessible. There is an accessible, ground-level entrance at the front of the building with a power-assist door. The restroom on the ground level is all-gender and ADA-compliant. Additional ADA-compliant restrooms are available on the lower level, which can be accessed by an elevator. Chairs are provided, yet optional.

    Olivia Kalin

    Olivia Kalin is a passionate educator and leader committed to leveraging museums as change-makers for equity, personal empowerment and social justice. She teaches in museums across New York City, including the Museum of Arts and Design, the Bard Graduate Center and Wave Hill, and as an adjunct lecturer in the MA art museum education program at the City College of New York. Her current museum work includes teaching young people and adults in virtual and physical galleries, mentoring museum educators, leading professional development workshops for K-12 teachers and writing interpretive guides for educators. She is a past president, vice president and conference chair of the New York City Museum Educators Roundtable (NYCMER). Olivia loves speaking with people, listening to their stories, and thinking with them to construct knowledge.
