Design Fridays: Compelling Design Garden Walk

Meet at Perkins Visitor Center
Discover how views, focal points, plant combinations, garden structures, paths and other design elements play key roles in the way Wave Hill’s gardens blend harmoniously with the natural beauty of our location along the Hudson River. Wave Hill’s Director of Public Programs and garden designer Laurel Rimmer will guide you to experience the garden in a whole new way.
Archtober event. Additional walk on Oct 25 or Glyndor Terrace Garden Renovation with Dir of Horticulture Cathy Deutsch on Oct 18.
Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult. Tickets required for all participants.

Laurel Rimmer
Laurel Rimmer
Laurel Rimmer is the Director of Public Programs at Wave Hill, overseeing adult programs and garden interpretation. She holds a BA in Art History from Duke University and earned her MLA in Landscape Architecture at Cornell University. Laurel discovered her love for horticulture while working at public and private gardens from Delaware to Hawaii as she was earning her degrees. During her 20+ years tenure at Wave Hill, she has developed programs and interpretive material that have encouraged countless visitors to explore the intimate gardens and natural and cultural history of Wave Hill. She lives with her family and assorted pets in Cold Spring, NY, where she indulges her passion for plants in her own personal garden and occasionally works with private clients on small-scale garden design projects.
