Convening: a Sincere Gesture

Presented in conjunction with Salvador Muñoz’s exhibition A Sincere Gesture on the Sun Porch, this community gathering centers the health and wellness of queer people of color. The exhibition pays homage to Xochipilli, the Mexica deity of flowers, and this program references their association with the remedial properties of flowers. This convening is led by a QTBIPOC collective of herbal practitioners who will use plant clippings from the exhibition to guide a discussion about the anxiety and stress-relieving qualities of these plants. The program will be an opportunity for the community to converse, share and learn about the ways in which cultural significance and plant life intersect.
